“What do you do? When you’ve done all you can and it seems like it’s never enough?
– Donnie McClurkin
What do you do when you’re faced with adversity? Do you stick it out and fight for another day or do you give in?
Well, today (I’ve shared with you guys my story about applying for countless jobs and only having two interviews.)
Despite that, after applying to yet another temp agency – I was called by them and I was a-bit excited only to be told that I lacked experience.
The question that rang so loudly in the back of my mind while in the mist of this conversation was how much of experience are you looking for? If you’re like me ITS NO WAY POSSIBLE IN HELL that you can –
intern while in undergrad > Graduate from undergrad > intern > and have 3 – 4 years of “experience under your belt.”
(Unless, you know someone that knows someone to get you in the door and they play favorites.)
That’s impossible. Well, nothing is impossible. I’m all for embellishment but lying on your resume – I never really thought was a good idea because that can catch up with you in the long run. When you don’t know how to create elaborate super fancy things in excel or do mail merge in outlook etc. Lying on my resume issa no for me dog.
that’s why I can’t stress the importance of networking, knowing someone who knows someone to open you up to a whole new realm of possibilities that never would’ve existed had you not known that particular person.
